Overview
An Infrastructure Installation Technician’s responsibility is to perform the installation, programming and/or troubleshooting of all BlackCSI’s (The Company’s) low voltage commercial cabling, access control, and video surveillance systems. Being able to respond to dispatched service calls for hardware or software in a timely manner is essential for success in this position.
Job Description
Role & Responsibility
- Install, configure, test, and maintain all Systems including but not limited to burglary, surveillance cameras, digital video recorders, access control systems, intercom, audio, all related cabling and other systems as assigned.
- Effectively troubleshoot and repair faulty equipment or conditions.
- Inspects and coordinates work performed by authorized vendors to ensure projects meet scope of work, project specifications, and guideline requirements.
- Report issues requiring vendor escalation or parts/materials.
- Respond to dispatched service calls in a timely manner.
- Effectively apply the Company’s methodology and enforce project standards.
- Meet or exceeds all required productivity goals according to Service Level Agreements, i.e. service call response times, ticket closure status updates, and all others as determined by respective Company management.
- Collect and maintain an accurate inventory of all in-use life safety equipment, maintain service records, upgrades, and warranty information.
- Perform continual skills updates, training, and research to stay up to date of current and emerging related technologies and product enhancements.
- Responsible for maintaining regular communication with supervisor and management.
- Maintain strong written and effective oral communication skills for both internal and external stakeholders, clients, and peers.
- Demonstrate attention to detail to ensure successful resolution to client requirements in a timely and cost effective manner.
- Have prompt, regular attendance in-person and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours and as needed.
- Track and report individual hours and expenses on a weekly basis to respective personnel
- Must help the client to configure and understand the database that they would like to be installed into their system.
- Conduct basic user training, if needed.
- Coordinate with the client on any special equipment they will have installed, such as modular furniture, color of jacks, type of jacks, etc. so that we can ensure that we relay the parts needed back to the warehouse for part availability.
Qualifications & Education Requirements
- Ability to read, understand and follow line drawings and blueprints.
- Ability to pull cable and other cables in new or partially filled EMT conduit.
- Ability to properly terminate cabling (RJ45, Keystone jack, 110 punch down, 66 block punch down).
- Ability to follow switch and patch panel cabling schemes.
- Ability to perform end to end tests of multiple cables.
- Ability to run, terminate, splice and test fiber.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs.
- Must be able to work on a ladder for extended period of time.
- Must be able to pass Child Abuse History, Criminal, and Fingerprinting clearances.
- Extremely reliable and self-motivated.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- Maintain professional appearance and demeanor.
- Ability to work without constant supervision.
- Ability to work remote, as needed.
- Flexibility to work off-hours shifts, as needed.
